"National Youth Singing Competition"

The National Youth Singing Competition, held on Thursday, was organized by the National Youth Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Nepal, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, with Mission Sanchar Multimedia Group, Kathmandu, as the co-organizer. The competition saw three finalists, with Deepak Raj Kaliraj from Makwanpur winning first place, Raja Rajput from Dhanusha securing second, and Suraj Khati from Rupandehi coming in third.

This is likely the first singing reality show at the national level organized by the Government of Nepal. A total of 65 youth groups, aged between 16 and 40, participated by submitting forms in three musical categories: Adhunik, Lok, and Pop. Out of these, 48 youths submitted digital audition videos, from which 21 were shortlisted and called to Kathmandu for a physical audition. The competition then proceeded in stages, narrowing down from the top 9 to 6, and finally selecting the top 3.

The judges, including music composer B.P. Wagle, folk singer Devi Gharti Magar, singOli, and singer Sanju Neupane, evaluated participants from the digital auditions through to the final round. Songwriters B. Pandey, Suman Bairagi, and Ganesh Subedi were tasked with creating new songs for the winners, while composer B.P. Wagle handled the music composition. Senior broadcaster Hem Subedi hosted the event, with Roshan Subedi leading the program.

At the closing ceremony, held at the Nepal Tourism Board Hall, several journalists were honored for their contributions to journalism, including Prakash Chandra Timilsina (photojournalism), C.B. Adhikari (tourism), Sukrit Nepal (art and literature), Nabin Giri (film and online journalism), Tara Subedi (Deshprem Saptahik), Ganga Baral (Alochana Saptahik), and Binita Kunwar Chhetri (Space 4K).

In the presence of key figures from art, literature, music, and social sectors, as well as government representatives, Surendra Basnet, Executive Vice President of the National Youth Council, awarded the winners with trophies and certificates. He encouraged young talents from across the country to showcase their skills on platforms like this. The winners also received song recording agreements from Parbati Chapagain, director of Mission Sanchar Multimedia Group. Social worker Gehendra Prasad Dhakal, program director Diyojit Oli, creative director Monika Subedi, assistant director Shital Wagle, and assistant creative director Ganesh Pokharel were acknowledged for their efforts in making the event a success.
